undo history and/or changelog

preferrably available via RSS or something... useful if you accidentally start typing without paying attention to the screen and perform multiple modifications :-(

Thanks for the suggestion!

It's possible to undo multiple operations (either from the dropdown or pressing the keyboard shortcut 'z' multiple times). Being able to see what you're undoing though is a neat idea :)

Is this changelog a possibility?

I was just trying to add a label "marketing" to one of my tasks.

I thought that I pressed "s" for adding tags but must have missed it.

So instead when I entered "marketing" it turned multi-edit mode on ("m"), then selected all tasks ("a") (which was over 700 tasks), edited their titles ("r"), and changed all of their titles to "keting."

hehehe :)

I could have then clicked undo as you suggested, but editing all those tasks at once froze my browser
I lost all my tasks... :(
*cry*

ok. I waited for my firefox browser to unfreeze (I'm using Opera right now) and was able to get my tasks back using undo. THANK GOD!

anyway, I've decided (after my near heart attack) to backup regularly.
the changelog would be cool though.

OR maybe just tell RTM-ers to BEWARE of "marketing"

I similarly inadvertenly changed the name of all of my task and was not able to undo. I was using the Remember the Task browser, and perhaps that had something to do with it.

I was able to reconstruct most of my task names from email alerts I had received.

However, I think it's way too easy to mess up with the current interface.

Some suggestions:

1) Develop a confirmation dialog for changing names of multiple tasks (most users would not be customarily doing that action, so it is probably a user error which they would want to back out of)

2) I get into trouble by tabbing out of fields and into another field when I think I am not in any field. Enter key gets you out of the field.

Oh, and yes, backup. The thought hadn't occurred to me before. I am not backing up daily through iCal.

I'd suggest that you post warnings about not backing up prominently in your documentation.

I have been making this point for a long time now, to no effect, but optimistic and stubborn person that I am, here I will go again...

I continue to think that the current confusion over some actions effecting single items, some effecting multiple items, and then the separate multi-edit mode is the single largest UI failing of RTM. There are plenty of changes and additions I would like to see implemented, but in terms of enhancing the existing feature set, this is the low-hanging fruit. Anything that leads to users inadvertently completing or deleting tasks really should be addressed ASAP.

This idea is considered similar to "Task changelog (history of changes to a task)", and all votes have been transferred to that idea.
