Wow this is really good just wish the iPhone was out in OZ. In relation to the touch model does this work in the way that I can sync my tasks, go off for the day, change and add whatever and then when I sync it will all marry up?

From what I just read it seems as this works on safari you would have to be connected to the net to be able to use but I am hoping this is not the case. I was hoping it would be able to work in the fashion of google gears sorts of thing. Anyway if you could let me know that would b great.

Unfortunately syncing isn't possible yet (it would be great though!). Google Gears doesn't support Safari on the iPhone, and Apple won't be allowing third parties to develop applications until February. Definitely something that we can look at once it's possible, as I think it would be very cool :)

I'm sure those who own a iPhone and iPod touch are very grateful for this new feature. It continues the existing RTM streak of "no new features, just new venues," however, which is pretty disheartening.

There are many users who only use your website. In the months (year?) since any new feature was introduced to the site, you've received thousands of good suggestions for new features -- some small, some large, some impractical, some easily implemented. None of them have been introduced.

At this point, I fully expect the next announcement from RTM to be that a specialized version of Remember the Milk has been rolled out for the Commodore 64.

I'm not intending to start flaming here, but shouldn't there be more people thanking the RTM crew in this thread ? You iPhone users own us a core feature!! ;D

I will add my thanks to help this thread grow. The iPhone version of RTM is great! Even speedy on edge. I am finding myself using the full web version less and just pulling out my phone to update tasks.

I am upgrading to Pro this week, well worth the money.

Thank you Emily, Omar and Bob!

Just started using RTM with my iphone today and I am totally excited ! I didn't know RTM and now I must say it is a great tool for me to organize all the stuff in my work and private life. I will surly upgrade to the Pro version, if it turns out, that it works stable on my iphone and my mac. Many thanks for that great peace of software !

I've been using the iPhone version since it came out, and I'm really impressed. This and Bloglines are the only two sites I regularly hit on my iPhone. I love me some mobile monkey.

As someone who has spent a fair few months on the 'dark side' (i.e. Omnifocus), I'm now firmly back in the RTM fold because of this. It's simply extraordinary!!

I love RTM - been a grateful long-time user. I've tried out the iPhone interface several times operating on high-speed WiFi network and -- I hate to say it -- while it's fine for viewing one screen of task data, I prefer the standard mobile interface whenever I'm going to be interacting with data a lot.

Here are my gripes:

- No easy buttons at the top of individual task menus to mark a task "complete" or to "postpone" = too many taps to make most common edits (mark an item complete , postponing)
- Can't see enough detail on my task names (it's cut off after about 15-20 characters). On the standard mobile interface, titles aren't cut off
- Screen load times are longer with iPhone interface

Again, I'm grateful for the RTM crew pressing forward with an optimized version for iPhone. I will definitely test the next iteration again to see if the improvements make it better for me than the existing mobile interface.

Too bad the iPhone version is pro-only. There already is a clone that is using the API. Why not give away the iPhone version for free?

kraftbj says:
@breggol - The application's entire base for free and this particular feature is one that is slated for being associated with a cost structure. They have to break even somehow and I suppose assuming those with iPhones have a bit of extra cash isn't way out there...

Why not become Pro and have this feature if that's what you want? Instead of asking for it for free?

@rajjan: If you open up your service with an API, I guess in the long run, people will start creating their own interfaces anyway. And since the iPhone (or an iPod Touch for me personally) is being used more and more, the user base would grow with a free service. But thats just my 2 cents.

Anyway, for now I love the RTM service in general, no question about that...

What would happen with the Pro model if Google buys RTM?

I know you're asking for us to be patient, but I'm beginning to wonder why I purchased the "Pro" upgrade? Other than the satisfaction in knowing that I am financially supporting a product that I use very regularly, I see no benefit to having the "Pro" account over the "Free" account.

Not all of us have iPhones.

I'm trying to figure out how to use rtm with my touch when I'm not online.

I thought the trick would be to sync with my ical but, though I can get my rtm stuff onto my ical on my computer in either todo or as evens on given days, my ical on my touch doesn't see them. I know ical on the touch doesn't support todos yet (serious shortcoming) but shouldn't I be able to see the events that rtm puts in my days???

OR

how hard would it be for the pro version to show me my rtm stuff when i'm offline??

@robswi

It probably wouldn't be possible to do that on the iPhone or iPod touch unless it was using a native task manager, which it doesn't have. As far as I know, there are no "jailbreak" to-do lists for iPhone or Touch with a reliable sync feature, neither.

For those that are complaining because they don't have iPhones, it was a very smart move for RTM because there's a market of iPhone users (soon to be a HUGE market) that are looking only for task managers that have iPhone web apps. This is what brought me into RTM. iPhone just hasn't blown up yet. In a year, everybody will have one. Besides, blackberry MilkSync and priority e-mail support is definitely something, along with the free hosting and coding they give us. $25 is nothing.

I was using RTC (remember the cat) on my iPhone to access RTM because I heard it was better than the RTM iPhone app. Then I noticed that it wasn't loading smart lists anymore, so I upgraded to pro and never looked back.

RTM for iPhone is awesome! It's got everything. Smart lists. Integrated search. Access the notes and add tasks, iPhone-style.

My only suggestion is that it suggests tags as I type then in on actions. I'm not sure that it's possible, but I could definitely use that.

derek.conjar says:
Oh, and...

@robswi,

You should be able to sync your lists as events to iCal, and then sync them with your Touch. That way, they'll show up as all-day tasks in your calendar. I sync RTM with iCal, Gcal with iCal using SpanningSync, and iCal with iPhone, and it works extremely well.

iPhone: Please display Tags, not the List name, on the Lists view

I love RTM iPhone web version, but have a small request.

When I am on the Lists view, the name of the list is displayed on the second line of each task while that list name is displayed on the header obviously. :-(

Could you make it display tags on the second line of each list?

Speaking of the tag, it would be great if iPhone version has auto complete (fill-in) of the tag name.

Another small request is here.

I'm trying mobile on my Iphone and love it. I'll probably upgrade to Pro after the 15 days. But I can't figure out how to mark a task complete with it. I'm not usually a dunce. I can edit; but I can' figure out complete. Thanks for any help.

ab (Remember The Milk) says:
@bakerjl75

On your task list, press the Edit button a bunch of blue ticks appear next to them, press the blue tick, a complete button appears, press that.

You're not a dunce, the multi-use of the word "Edit" never really gelled over for me but gotta follow the native environment :) Still you get used to it. Edit = "More than view the thing I'm looking at it" hehe.

I also couldn't figure out how to mark tasks as complete. I had to read the FAQ.

"Edit" is definitely the wrong word.

@adame: I also took ages to work it out. But what what you suggest other than "edit"?

turadg says:
Bugs:
- Can't edit names of tasks except by deleting from the end. (i.e. no way to move caret into string)

Improvements:
- postpone and complete buttons at the bottom of the task view
- quick add like the Quicksilver plugin
- add new locations on the fly
