I was actually in the “looking for something better than RTM” group too. I didn’t jump on AI because I believed in it — I tried it to see if it actually works in practice. A month ago I decided to try Pro mainly because of MCP integration.

What surprised me is not just convenience, but what it enables.

A simple way to think about it: AI is like a huge box of LEGO bricks. If you don’t play with it, it looks pointless. Once you start, you realize you can build things you wouldn’t even consider before.

Kids tend to experiment without expectations. Over time we replace that with habits, assumptions and constraints. Give the same set of LEGO bricks to two different approaches — one exploratory, one constrained — and the outcomes won’t be the same. The difference is rarely the bricks — it’s how they’re used.

It’s not just reducing friction. It’s extending what I can realistically do. AI is not just a tool like scripts or automation. It’s something that can operate on your behalf once properly guided.

Things that used to be straightforward now require more tools, more inputs and more decisions — while we have less time to handle them.

For me (especially with ADHD), that difference is huge. It’s less about doing more, and more about not falling behind when complexity increases.

I’ve been through similar transitions before — moving from paper to digital, building systems, learning how to structure work. None of that was instant or effortless.

You can see a similar shift in hiring. It’s no longer just about writing application materials — you’re competing with hundreds of submissions filtered through automated systems.

Ignoring that doesn’t stop it — it just means dealing with it later, under more pressure.

But calling it “niche” or unnecessary might come from not seeing what it can actually do yet. It's more like underestimated gamechanger.

If AI gives wrong output, I don’t treat it as a final answer. I treat it like a fast assistant that needs guidance. The more context and rules you give it, the better it performs. Over time, it actually reduces errors instead of adding them.

This message would likely have been longer, less structured and more repetitive without using AI to help refine and organize it — not by replacing the thinking, but by improving clarity.

Just found out this place lol after 15 years.
I'm and ADHD proctastination-holic, and the tool keeps me from drowning.
I've tried looking around for a better tool that fits my needs and there I haven't found any so far. There are better tools, but usually those are bigger, or enterprise class software which makes the solution an overkill and adds more friction into task management vs doing them.

There was another web tool mentioned here, looks promising but the difference is, that you can use RTM free of charge in the world where you have to pay for everything, and even there it is expected to adjust your expectation (try searching for "Enshittification").

I've been using RTM with free tier whole this time as much of extra features were not needed, I guess we have a solid foundation even if it's not evolving fast enough.

I agree, RTM team might need a dedicated person to do some community management to keep folks in the loop - even if there's not much to say. And to watch the forums more actively to address some hall of shame topics like 15 YEARS of 2FA/passkey discussion.

I want to clear up the abandonware concern first: Remember The Milk is still actively developed and supported (we have a new feature for connecting RTM with AI that's been out in beta for the last month; I know not everyone is into AI, and we're working on app improvements as well right now).

That said, I'm sorry your recent support emails went unanswered. That shouldn't have happened, and I'd like to fix it. I've followed up with you via email about the issue you're having with the icon.

On exports, we offer a few backup options, documented here: accounts backup help. There's a JSON export and an iCalendar feed available. Whether either would import cleanly into Google Tasks (or any other app) depends on what that app accepts on its import side, so it'd be worth checking with them.

I have tried with a separate mobile phone so it doesn't seem to be related to Android version. Plus found this other thread which seems to suggest Google Drive is also affected in a slightly different way https://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/help/31430/

Best as I've been able to tell, after poking around and experimenting for a few hours, there is no straightforward way to move RTM tasks to Google Tasks. Theoretically, the JSON export -should- (with some massaging via Google Sheets) have been able to do the trick, but alas.

I'm now, within RTM, re-assigning tasks to my gmail address. Tags, original due dates, all that is lost in the shift, but I find it a little easier to copy-paste within the web Googleverse than to toggle between windows.
Sigh.

I rely heavily on Google Apps like Calender, Mails and Drive. Tried Google Tasks more than once. Functionality is very limited and different; RTM offers much more. Tipp: Try it for some time parallel to RTM. I also don't think that you can import the RTM tasks there.

Brief research has led me to Google Tasks, which seems a better solution than Outlook To Do. (I tried ToDoist and for some reason my brain just cannot wrap itself around how that works. Tasks looks almost as simple as RTM).

Has anyone tried Google Tasks? Have you been able to use the RTM export to import tasks? (I hate the thought of starting over. My whole life is organised in RTM, from medical test results to detailed records of insurance complaints. I absolutely rely on it for everything.)

Unable to add attachments from Android mobile

Hello forum and RTM team

I am a Pro user, tried to contact via help form but haven't heard back despite multiple followups in few months. When trying to add attachments on mobile using the Dropbox service it gives me an error. The UI doesn't give me an error code or something to share unfortunately.

To replicate:
- I click a task
- I click add attachment
- I select upload to Dropbox account (note: I see the correct Dropbox email, I see the Dropbox account is connected on settings)
- I select the attachment and confirm
=> I see an orange error label "try again"

Android: Version 15
RTM app version: I can't find it in the settings.

Trings I tried:
- Uninstall and reinstall the app
- Disconnect and reconnect Dropbox (this makes me lose all existing attachments info in the tasks...so will not try that again)
