It would help if RTM acknowledged MCP incidents promptly, included the service on the official status page and confirmed when it has been restored.

I do not expect an immediate fix or a precise ETA. A short confirmation that the problem is known would already stop users from repeatedly troubleshooting their own clients and authentication setups.

The MCP is one of RTM's most promising additions in years. Todoist has modern features and much more visible development, but it also introduced limitations and friction in areas where RTM still works exceptionally well.

After this test, my conclusion is that RTM remains the best task manager for my actual workflow. Its speed, transparency, search, tags, Smart Lists and handling of completed tasks are extremely difficult to replace. The underlying product is not the problem. From my perspective, most of it is already close to perfect.

I also welcome the official MCP server. For me, this is not an unnecessary AI feature. It gives an agent controlled access to the same task system I already trust and has significantly increased RTM's long-term value.

There are four things I currently need in order to stay with confidence:

## 1. A reliable MCP connection

The official MCP is very useful when it works, but repeated authentication and reconnection problems, along with occasional service unavailability, make it difficult to trust as a daily operational backbone. Stable OAuth token refresh and reliable long-running agent sessions are essential.

## 2. An official RTM CLI

There is a useful third-party CLI, but an officially supported command-line client would provide a dependable fallback for automation, scripting and maintenance. It would also make RTM much easier to integrate into modern personal workflows without relying on an unofficial project.

## 3. Markdown rendering in task notes

Basic Markdown support for headings, lists, links and code would be enough. Notes are an important part of many tasks, and plain text has become the one area where RTM feels unnecessarily dated.

## 4. Better communication and some visibility into the roadmap

I do not expect firm release dates or constant feature announcements. Even a short quarterly update about what the team is maintaining, improving or considering would make a significant difference.

The uncertainty is more concerning than a slow development pace. Users do not need every request to be accepted, but they do need some indication that requests are being read and that the product has a direction.

I do not need file attachments. If I need to attach a document, I can store it in OpenCloud or another system and add a link to the task note. I also do not need RTM to become a large project-management suite or to add features simply for the sake of appearing active.

Please keep the core product stable. But these improvements would show that RTM can remain both reliable and relevant for modern workflows.

I want to remain an RTM customer. After testing the main alternative seriously, I have even more appreciation for how well RTM gets the fundamentals right.

<issued>2026-08-11T19:01:02Z</issued><modified>2026-08-11T19:01:02Z</modified><created>2026-08-11T19:01:02Z</created>

Reply to Development drought

yyaboo (Pro) says:

If anyone from support is ironically paying attention here and not elsewhere (!!) there is an open ticket regarding google Drive links not functioning… could you for the love of god answer your (paying) customers. On the note section of the task SHOULD be links (Evernote Web and Evernote desktop) that take you back to the original note.

This has all been working like a charm (first with ToodleDo and them with RTM when I moved to RTM in 2018). Recently, the links back to the Evernote note are not being included in the RTM tasks.

To test to see whether it was an issue with Evernote, TaskClone, or RTM, I set up a connection to send tasks from Evernote to Google Tasks. It worked. The tasks appeared in Google Tasks complete with the links back to Evernote.

The founder of TaskCLone and I are both eager to figure out what's happening,

<issued>2026-07-25T01:06:02Z</issued><modified>2026-07-25T01:06:02Z</modified><created>2026-07-25T01:06:02Z</created>

Reply to Seeking a Tutor for RTM I'll pay

drfrankbuck (Pro) says:

Dennis,

Let's do this...join my newsletter list.
