Fastest way to enter due date

d99pli says:
Is there a way to fix a quick due date on a new task. I was thinking of a way to include it somehow in the name of the task and that RTM then parses that info. E.g. I would write "send project report (monday)" and this would automatically be interpreted.

FYI: I already know the keyboard shortcut "d" which works nice...

d99pli,

you can always use the email option to email tasks and work with templates.

Otherwise you can also use the RTM Tool which is a third party application;

Pardon what must seem repetitive, but when I see the same good ideas surfacing over and over, I am compelled to note the fact.

The idea of parsing the text in the data entry field has been around since RTM was wet behind the ears, and I have watched the idea resurface over and over.

Ranbarton - wow.

And I know the capability is there, b/c RTM already does smart text parsing when adding a task in RTM for Gmail, which I primarily use. I was *Shocked* to find that they didn't do it for normal RTM. Even worse, I almost always use smart lists. When I'm viewing a smart list for tasks due today (and other criteria), and then add a new task, the task is automatically hidden b/c it doesn't have a due date of "today" and I can't add that at time of task creation. Surely I'm missing something??

There is a clever workaround for that which can be found on several threads here. Create a "catch" smartlist that might, for example, look for tasks created today with no due date. Then add that catch list to your smartlist so that when you create a new task, it stays in view and doesn't 'vanish.'

I think rajjan was the one who came up with this; I forget honestly, but it's a clever idea.
