First off, I'd like to say that I really like RTM. It's pretty much exactly what I was looking for when I wanted to move from iCal to a web-based set of tools. Google Calendar is great, but I use to-do lists for tons of stuff.
Now, as for a couple of ideas for improvements. First, I'd like to be able to color-code tasks. For me, I'd like to have it based on task list, because I'm setting up smart lists from different lists. But probably the best way for everyone would to just be able to select one or multiple tasks, and assign a background color for each. That way, I could look at a group of tasks and know which ones are bill, work, etc. It would be a super-quick way of having a deeper understanding of what I'm seeing at a glance. The open-ended "use it however you want" idea of just being able to give a task a color would be pretty awesome.
Also, I could really use a way to set up a task that repeats until a date or for a specified number of repeats. I know that's coming pretty close to calendar functionality, but it would still be pretty useful. Something like watering the plants at a friend's house while he/she is out of town is a good example.
Finally, I'd like to be able to assign Priorities without my tasks being reordered based on Priority. iCal for the Mac will order your to-dos first on due date, then priority. I like being able to see what is important to do, but still see what is due first.
Sorry for making this long, but I think you've got a great thing going, and I'm geeked up by it. I've only used it for today so far, but it's just what I'm looking for. Keep up the good work and thanks. Posted at 2:16am on May 9, 2006 |
