Related...I would love to be able to have custom notifications for each task. I would like to be notified 2 weeks in advance for Task A and 1 day in advance for Task B and not all for Task C. This is a simple built-in feature of Entourage (and I assume Outlook).

Hell yes. The amount of advanced features on RTM, it surprises me that per-task notification settings aren't available. I could really do with this.

Could be a pro-user only feature.

Please, RTM, how about it?

I too like the idea of more complex notification options. I like jared.rutter's suggestion and would add that it'd be nice to have at least 2 separate reminders for tasks. Like have a task with a 1 week advance reminder, and then a final one day prior reminder.

I especially like funkeye's suggestion. I think the email reminders would be more useful with some simple styling and breaking out the "today's tasks" (blue heading) from the "overdue tasks" (red heading)... with an option to include notes and tags in the daily email.

It should work just like Google Calendar or iCal, where you can add as many individual notifications to each task, with each being a choice of Email, SMS, IM, Twitter, or others. Of course 'no notification' should be an option too.

And it would make sense to be able to set a 'default' option for new tasks as well.

RTM has a lot of sophisticated features. I find this lack of a basic feature surprising.

In fact, the more I use RTM, the more I miss the possibility to have notification-per-task capability.
It's really strange that such a basic and important feature is missing.

The ability to change a notification from the default in preferences would be great! I use RTM to keep track of bills I need to pay. I'd like notifications of those payments, but I also don't want to be notified of every other little task I put into my list. An option to set notifications per-task would make this work wonderfully!

An option to set notification settings per-folder and at a certain time would be great as well. That way I could get a notification for all "Work" tasks when I get to work, then I'd get a notification of all "Personal" tasks when I get home from work.

What I would like to be notified about is when a contact is entering a new task in one of my shared lists.
