Google Calendar sidebar gadget

Hey all, I'd like to see your opinions on an idea.

I really think RTM "wants" a calendar, somewhere you can "plan" visually your upcoming week. Thankfully, RTM provides the option to integrate with other calendars via iCalendar feeds (http://www.rememberthemilk.com/help/answers/icalendar/) and a special integration with Google Calendar (http://www.rememberthemilk.com/services/googlecalendar/).

My calendar of choice is Google Calendar. I used it last year to plan, but because I used the iCalendar sync, then I needed to go back in RTM and write the tasks. I tried the special integration, but it felt slow and slightly underwhelming (no quick add or smart add... having to click before you see the tasks...).

The question is this: how many of you would like to have Gmail's integration (the EXACT same way, sidebar with smartadd!) in Google Calendar? It would go where Google puts tasks, as a natural improvement, and would allow looking at the calendar, finding free time, and noting down the task in the same website.

One final note: im sure it could be improved, I just said the exact same way because it seems it would be easy to port the gadget (both services have the same gadget-adding URL box in Labs).

Ideas? Criticism?

Tara Clark figured this out back on 7/15 - it's a great find.

I'd love to have 2-way iCal-feed sync to enable Gcal or iCal as front-ends for rearranging things and have the changes reflected in RTM, but until then this helps.

Actually, I dont know if two way sync would be easier than just implementing a calendar inside RTM but yeah, either of those works. Agreed.

I guess 2-way sync makes it possible to work with a desktop calendar, so that's a plus on that side.
