Custom Order Tasks

leifg Pro says:

It would be nice to drag around the tasks by myself.

Would be really usefull if the custome search order would be saved in the current list.

Especially neat in smart lists.

Example: Set up a Smart lists for tasks for this evening. Now drag them around to get the correct order.

Otherwise you have to add priorities or make up times when you want to finish these tasks

You can also use prefixes like a, b, c or 01, 02, 03 to force a sort order. Not as flexible as what you suggest, but available now while you wait for Bob to work through his long list.

That would help a lot. I have tasks that aren't higher priority, but they should be done when I get a chance and other blah blah. This would be great!

I would love this option, too. I have lists that contain order-dependent items and putting prefixes or fake due dates is a kludge at best.

Looks like this request has been out there for a while, but thought I would bump this thread... as it's something that I would love too. It's actually the only reason I continue to use Tada List vs. RTM. RTM has so many other features that make it more robust... but, for me, it's essential to be able to re-order the list randomly based on where I want things to be.

I just moved from Google Tasks to RTM and the only show stopper so far has been that I'm not able to order the tasks in a list...

unbelievable that so basic a feature isn't on RTM.

awilsonian says:

Agreed. This is a showstopper. I know the list of things for RTM to work on is long (but my wants and needs are more important--kidding!) but this is keeping me from committing to RTM.

Would love to see this feature as well. From a project standpoint I have tasks that must be complete before I start another, being able to move them into a logical order and hit them top to bottom one at a time is essential

I would love to see this as well. Unfortunately because of the lack of this I'm always on the lookout for a better task manager.

I've got a million tasks, there's not enough priorities to keep them ordered, and manually ordering them with number / letter prefixes is bogus when you get to have too many tasks, updating them is so much trouble when you need to move them around too.

This is the one feature that still keeps me from using remember the milk. I wish I hadn't signed up for the android app before I knew that tasks were sorted alphabetically. I can't stand alphabetical ordering.

kmushko Pro says:

Keeping this post fresh...

Even Google Tasks (which is very limited) has drag and drop task sorting.

Also if you use a system like Getting Things Done (GTD) or First Things First (FTF) / Franklin Covey , they allow more than 3 priorities: GTD has 0-99 weighting, FTF has a A, B, C, plus a number: A1, A2, B1, C1.

I'd easily pay double for the Pro subscription for custom ordered tasks.

joedope says:

Speaking to GTD:
Order is essential for projects.
SmartOrdering would be a godsend, where tasks renumber as some are completed!
Thanks!

Lack of ordered tasks is a show stopper for me too. Lists are already a work-around for the lack of subtasks. If I can't order things in lists either, well, I just don't know if I can use this service. Ditto on the willingness to pay double pro subscription just for this feature.

Ditto, ditto and ditto again. This seems so basic? I would love to sort my task in "My Order". It feels like it would fit perfectly under the "Sort by" drop down. Are there any updates or plans to make this happen any time soon?

RTM is nice in some ways but no task ordering means no projects and no real organisation. Without that, I can't use it.

Likewise, please add this feature. I just searched "ordering tasks remmeber the milk" and came across tihs thread. Even a simple project like moving apartment is difficult to do as certain tasks come in an order.

I agree, love the RTM service for all it's integrations but simply can't use it for projects until custom ordering is included. Sub-tasks would also be nice but I'd renew my Pro membership in an instant if we could simply order tasks in a logical manner.

This idea is considered similar to "Drag and drop to reorder tasks", and all votes have been transferred to that idea.
