defaults for new tasks

I find myself adding a new task, and then immediately setting the due date to today. It would be great if there were a way to do this automatically.

On the other hand, sometimes I want to create a task with no due date, or I want to change a task which previously had a due date to now have none. It seems that once a task has a due date, I can't change it so that it no longer has one.

You can remove a due date from a task simply by removing whatever due date you have and making the field blank. It will then set the due date to be 'never'.

This idea is considered similar to "Default due date setting", and all votes have been transferred to that idea.
