More flexibility in showing lists - GTD approach

I am looking for a better way to organize myself.
After some thinking, I've realized that RTM is still useful for me (WOW!!! :-D), although I think I should combine it with a flexible and easy-to-use calendar (as Google Calendar or similar).
I like and I have got used to some specific caracteristics of RTM, as the structure you give for action details (due time, estimated duration, URL, notes, tags, etc.).
However, I have been also looking at other approaches, and I find it very interesting all the stuff I've read about the GTD concept. It is not the first time it is mentioned here (see http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/ideas/1150/ and also http://www.rememberthemilk.com/forums/help/811/ ).
In the previous discusions it is shown that RTM can be useful if you are looking for a GTD way to manage your tasks, projects and so on (I think that TAGS are a good solution for what they call "contexts" in the GTD approach).
So, in fact, my suggestion is not about GTD but making lists more flexible.
I'll try to explain myself.
The only thing I don't like very much about RTM is that I can't see things as I need to see them, even with the help of SmartLists (goog idea, anyway!).
I would prefer an approach as the one you can see at Vitalist Free Tour (http://vitalist.com/tour/). It's just an example, but there you can see tasks (actions) ordered in projects (lists) and also in contexts (tags). In the "projects" view you can see all the projects (lists) at a glance, and you can also see the contexts (tags).
At the "actions" view you can see actions (tasks) grouped by contexts (tags), what I think it's very useful.
I think that the point is that the current RTM approach (one list = one tab) is a bit annoying. My suggestion is to have another alternative view, more similar to which is seen in that Vitalist tour.
One advantage I see in RTM (and it's not the only one) is that you can give tasks a priority, and not only a due date. In Vitalist they say "Use due dates to determine priority" (http://vitalist.com/tour/actions.asp) so they are mixing "urgent" and "important", which is not always the same...
So, please, let me know what do you think about that alternative view for the tasks I suggest here, and if you think I cuold do it with a slight knowledge of API or whatever.
Thank you in advance for your answers!!!

I like that you like it. :-)
I am still waiting for suggestions about how to have a front-end more similar to Vitalist, using RTM.
Is it very difficult to manage with the API? Is it necessary to use it in order to get what I want?
Using SmartList would be enough??
At the end, all what I need is a more flexible way to show lists ---not only identical tabs (lists, SmartLists and search results are shown alltogether..., all with tabs with the same color...).
