Useless tasks ?!!

dondiego says:
Hi,

First sorry for my English since I am French.

I am heavily using RTM for business purpose and there is something that becomes increasingly annoying for me : the permanent switch between the tasks module and the overview one. The overview is compulsory since it allows me to see at one glance what I need to do during the day but… just tell me what it is not editable ? Should it be editable (see Netvibes.com), the task module would be simply useless and RTM much simpler, easy to use and efficient.

Don't you think so ?

Please see this thread for a suggestion about how to handle this:

Thanks. Well, I only partly agree with you. OK for the great utility of the smart lists but what about the global view at one glance of all the tasks of the day with their priorities ?

I guess what I mean is that the smart lists let you recreate the overview, with all of the functionality you seek. Simply create 3 lists:

due:today

and

due:tomorrow

and

dueBefore:today

and now you have your overview, right?

I am not sure I got your point but "Work" is already a smartlist. My suggestion is that the overview section should be directly editable in order to save time from constantly switching with the task one.

I am sorry I am not being clearer.

Many people here have commented on how useful it would be to have the overview section be editable, so your suggestion there is understood and agreed upon.

What I am saying is that in the Tasks view, you can use a trio of smart lists to display the same breakdowns that you find on the overview. If you do this with the smart lists, you can then interact with the tasks on each list, accomplishing your desire of editing task in those views, even if not doing so in the actual overview.
