repeating tasks repeat forever in iCal events feed

When I set up a task in RTM online using Smart Add and the repeat syntax -- for example "*every day until 10/23/09" -- the task gets set up properly in RTM. But it does not go to my iCal events feed properly. When I look at my calendar, an event that I set up this way repeats infinitely, which clutters my calendar to the point that it is not usable. Is there a solution to this problem? Can anyone replicate this behavior?

I am using Mac OS 10.6 and iCal 4.0.

It also does this if I set up a new task by simply typing in the task name, then editing the task to set a repeat with an end date using the "every day until X" syntax. Is there another way to set a repeat with an end date?
