Printing on a Mac with Firefox

ranbarton ProPower Poster says:

I'm curious if anyone out there can confirm the following behavior, which I get with Mac OS X 10.3 and Firefox 1.5... when I print a list from RTM, the first page is fine, but the second and subsequent pages print a dark grey fill within the confines of the RTM task matrix as it appears on those pages.

Printing one page of stuff works fine, but more than that and I can barely read the tasks over the heavy grey background.

Ran, where are you printing from? Are you printing the 'print' view?

We can do some testing and see if this happens for us.

I am printing the weekly planner view, and no matter how I tweak the colorsync settings - normal, b&w, gray only, etc. - I get this odd almost black cast on the second page. Very odd. I am printing to a Samsung ML-1740 with Samsung drivers that seem to print most everything else without a hiccup.

My next experiment is to create a PDF and then print that.

I just tried printing a multi-page weekly planner with Firefox 1.5 on a Mac, and it printed fine for me.

I guess try printing to PDF, so you can see if it's a Firefox or a printer-related issue?

Please let us know how you go.

Five months later...

I was printing again this morning, this time in Camino, and the first page still looks great, and the subsequent pages have grey and white text over a black background. It's this way when I save to PDF, too.

Odd. Any ideas, anyone?

Hmm, does the PDF display like this on the screen, or does it only happen when the PDF is printed out?

The on-screen appearance of the second page of the PDF in question is black, as well, with pale white and grey type. The first page is fine.

As I said, odd. I observe this in Camino and Firefox.

That just gave me an idea - a PDF created in Opera 9ß looks fine, and it prints just fine, too.

I bet Safari will be okay, too, but that experiment is for another moment.
