Can I create filters so tasks are automatically entered into the lists? I really want tasks added through Gmail to have their own list.

One approach: tag everything you create in Gmail with a tag, like Gmail or aardvark. Then have a smartlist that finds all of your Gmail or aardvark tagged items, and there you have it.
