my task list appears onteh right sie of my inbox. my daughter who uses anothe rlanguage also gets my task list, (problem number one) AND it blocks her chat box (she thnks this is a problem too)

If you stay logged in, any other Gmail accounts in your Firefox profile will also show your tasks.
You could a) collapse the tasks box by clicking the arrow between the tasks and messages panes, b) log out, c) use a different Firefox profile, or d) use a different computer user profile.
Also, it shouldn't block the chat box, but it may if your Gmail version is currently unsupported.

As someone who switches between various Gmail accounts, I actually consider this a nifty feature. =)
