I think the gcal integration is great, but why not just place the task tick on days that actually have tasks, rather than every day?

This would make scanning for tasks much easier and would also prevent issues when synching the calendar with other apps (Groupwise) - where it creates an event for every day until the cows come home due to the 'no event' event.
