RTM for Gmail not creating a new task for auto-labeled messages

I have a ToDo label. When I manually label a message as ToDo, a new task gets created by RTM. However, when I filter newly received messages with a '+ToDo' in the address (which Gmail correctly auto-labels as ToDo), RTM ignores them.

Is this normal?

RTM for Gmail is triggered when labeling messages via Gmail's web interface -- unfortunately it's not able to detect when messages are labeled by filters (or via other Gmail interfaces such as mobile).
