This kind of issue has more to do with Gmail's version than Chrome's. Can you check our status page to determine whether your Gmail version is currently supported? Let us know whether it is and we'll see what we'd need to do to get the add-on working for you.

Our Gmail Labs Gadget requires Gmail Labs in order to function. However, the browser add-on, which allows you to add tasks by starring or labeling, will function with Labs disabled.

resolved - i had the version number wrong. New gmail version, will take a few days for RTM to catch up.
